Six arrested in recruitment scam targeting job seekers in Effutu
Six suspects have been arrested by the Winneba Divisional Police Command for their alleged involvement in a recruitment scam that targeted dozens of job seekers in Effutu, in the Central Region.
According to a report by adomonline.com on July 18, 2025, the suspects posed as representatives of an “independent distributor of Neo Life Company Limited” and deceived victims with fake job offers, collecting money from them under false pretenses.
Divisional Crime Officer, ASP George Quainoo, confirmed the arrests and disclosed that 54 victims—15 Nigerians and 39 Ghanaians—were rescued during the police operation.
“These suspects were seen moving across the Winneba township, distributing recruitment cards and advertising jobs that did not exist. Their main targets were unemployed youth,” ASP Quainoo explained.
Investigations revealed that the fraudulent operation was led by a Nigerian national, Oladokun Kehinde, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the scheme.
He was found to be without a valid work permit and is currently in custody assisting police with their investigation.
Authorities have issued a warning to the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious recruitment activities, as part of broader efforts to crack down on rising employment-related fraud.
