A brief overview of global mobile app fraud in 2022.


The global mobile advertising market saw app install fraud climb in H2 last year, with a 40% increase in the iOS system and 46% in Android. By the end of 2022, the estimated financial impact of all detected mobile app fraud reached $5.4bn, according to the latest analysis by AppsFlyer.

Although fraud rates were comparable across both major operating systems, iOS saw a 78% year-on-year surge in app fraud, largely attributable to the release of iOS 14.5, which weakened the resources and technology from fraud protection.
